Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have once again proven that they’re the kings of mischief on Britain’s Got Talent.
As the beloved duo returned to host the show’s 18th season, they made sure to keep things lively with an unforgettable prank on none other than judge Simon Cowell.
Ant & Dec’s Epic Prank on Simon Cowell
Known for their playful antics, Ant and Dec decided to target Simon in a way that had the entire audience – and even the people of Blackpool – in stitches.
The prank involved secretly decorating Simon’s car with a cheeky sticker that put the no-nonsense judge in a rather embarrassing situation.
“We did have a bit of a laugh at the judges’ expense,” Dec admitted. The sticker, a playful nod to the Britain’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer, featured Simon in an amusing pose.
“They were driving through Blackpool with a bit of a cheeky picture of Simon on the side, which he didn’t realise,” Dec explained, laughing. “Everybody in Blackpool was pointing and giggling. Simon thought it was because they loved his swanky car!”
Simon Cowell Faces a Dangerous Moment
While Simon is usually the one dishing out tough critiques, this season, he found himself in a much riskier position—literally. According to Ant, there was a heart-stopping moment where the 65-year-old music mogul’s safety was at risk during filming.
“There’s a lot of danger this year,” Ant revealed. “There was a moment where we were scared for Simon’s life. It was all a bit scary!”
Simon, however, is no stranger to taking risks and remains fully committed to finding the best talent on the show, no matter the challenges.
Exciting Changes to the Judging Panel
The Britain’s Got Talent judging panel remains mostly unchanged this season, with Simon Cowell joined once again by Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Bruno Tonioli. However, there’s a fresh twist in store for viewers as YouTube star KSI temporarily takes Bruno’s place while he fulfills his commitments with Dancing with the Stars in the U.S.
Dec shared his thoughts on KSI’s unique judging style, noting how his experience as a digital creator brought a fresh perspective to the talent competition.
“He judged in a way that no judge has ever looked at the acts before,” Dec said. “He brought energy, enthusiasm, and a really interesting viewpoint. He looked at whether acts would work online and go viral.”
This insight could prove invaluable, given the show’s growing digital presence and the increasing importance of viral moments in the entertainment industry.
A Lively Audience at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens
This season’s auditions were filmed at the iconic Blackpool Winter Gardens, and the audience played a bigger role than ever before.
“They’ve been very vocal,” Ant said. “They really get behind the acts, and they’re not afraid to have a go at the judges if they don’t agree with what they say. They’ve been like a fifth judge.”
The energy from the crowd added an extra layer of excitement, making for some unforgettable moments throughout the auditions.
New Format Brings a Fresh Twist
In another major change, Britain’s Got Talent is shaking up its format this year. Instead of packing all the semi-finals into one intense week, the show will now spread them out weekly.
This adjustment reflects the show’s ability to evolve and maintain its position as a global hit, with millions tuning in both on TV and online via ITVX.
“They always ask, ‘Do you definitely not know what’s coming next and whether an act is good or not?’ But we genuinely don’t,” Dec confirmed.
Ant & Dec’s Global Recognition
With Britain’s Got Talent being such a massive international success, it’s no surprise that Ant & Dec’s fame has extended beyond the UK. In fact, their hilarious moments on the show have led to some unexpected fan encounters around the world.
“I got stopped in a shopping mall by a fan who called me ‘Susan Boyle Boy’ because he recognised me from a clip,” Ant recalled with a laugh. “I’ve been stopped in Australia, Abu Dhabi, the Caribbean, America—everywhere we go, we get recognised because of Britain’s Got Talent.”
BGT Season 18 Promises More Surprises
With Simon Cowell’s unexpected brush with danger, KSI’s fresh take as a guest judge, and Ant & Dec’s classic pranks, Britain’s Got Talent Season 18 is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable and entertaining seasons yet.
Fans can expect a mix of jaw-dropping performances, hilarious moments, and, of course, more surprises from the mischievous hosts. Whether it’s a high-stakes act or an impromptu prank, one thing is certain—this season will be anything but boring!
