Richard Madeley implied that his tenure at GMB could be nearing its conclusion when he casually brought up his “replacement” during the most recent episode.

Richard Madeley has addressed concerns over his future on Good Morning Britain following the recent shake-up of presenters.

On Wednesday’s episode, viewers were surprised when Susanna Reid announced

that Martin Lewis would be stepping into Richard’s seat the following day.

This unexpected change sparked speculation about Richard’s role on the show.

However, in an exclusive interview with The Sun, the 68-year-old broadcaster made it clear

that he has no immediate plans to leave the ITV morning program.

Despite the buzz surrounding his potential departure, Richard revealed that he is very happy at Good Morning Britain and has no intention of stepping down anytime soon. “I am very happy to say on GMB as long as they want me,” he shared. “At some point, I’m going to be too bloody old—I’m 68! At some stage, either I will think, or ITV will think, maybe the time has come. But hopefully that will be for a few years yet because I don’t feel 68.”

Richard’s long-standing career in television has seen him become a household name, and his presence on Good Morning Britain has been well-received by viewers since he joined as a permanent host in 2021. Although he’s faced persistent rumours of a feud with co-host Susanna Reid, he has repeatedly denied any tension between them. Instead, he expressed how fortunate he feels to work alongside her.

“I think I’m really lucky to have been paired with Susanna,” Richard said. “We’re very similar journalistically, and we have a meeting every morning at 5 o’clock in her dressing room. It’s just a treat working with her. We go through the running order, and that’s where we put the final shape to the programme. I love working with her.”

Their professional relationship seems to be flourishing, and Richard went on to explain how their shared approach to broadcasting enhances their teamwork. “We think in the same way about how to sell a story, what the main point is, and how to deliver it on air,” he said. “It would be tiresome if we didn’t have the same outlook, but with Susanna, it’s just natural and easy.”

While some fans have speculated about his retirement due to his age, Richard’s enthusiasm for his role remains undiminished. He admitted that the early mornings required for the job can be tough but are ultimately worth it. “I wouldn’t get up at 4 in the morning two weeks out of four, Monday to Thursday, if I didn’t enjoy it,” Richard confessed. “I don’t need to do it. My career arc is behind me. I’ve had a really happy career, and I could just potter about. But I do GMB because I genuinely enjoy it. It gives me a chance to be a reporter again.”

In fact, Richard described how Good Morning Britain allows him to return to his roots in journalism, having spent the early part of his career in newspapers, radio newsrooms, and television newsrooms. “I love being a reporter, and GMB gives me that chance. It’s a really great team to work with,” he said. “I’ve worked on some shows where I wasn’t as happy, but GMB is an exciting, professional, and focused team, and I get a real kick out of working here.”

Although there has been no official announcement regarding Richard’s future with Good Morning Britain, his comments suggest he plans to remain a part of the show for the foreseeable future. His chemistry with Susanna continues to be a highlight for many viewers, and their dynamic has been a significant part of the show’s success.

Meanwhile, other changes to the GMB lineup have been hinted at. Recently, Adil Ray revealed that he would be returning to the presenter chair alongside Kate Garraway on Friday. Adil shared a behind-the-scenes photo on social media, giving fans a glimpse of the new presenter lineup for the week. This shift has added to the ongoing conversation about the future of Good Morning Britain and its rotating presenters.

As the show continues to evolve, Richard Madeley remains an integral part of its daily broadcast. His openness about his career and dedication to the show reassures fans that he’s not going anywhere anytime soon, and his collaboration with Susanna Reid remains a cornerstone of Good Morning Britain’s success.
