Piers Morgan has made a dramatic announcement: he will be returning to ITV’s *Good Morning Britain* (GMB) after an absence of nearly four years. 

The 55-year-old presenter’s return comes after he left the show abruptly in March 2021, 

following a heated on-air dispute with his co-presenter, Alex Beresford. 

The row, sparked by Morgan’s controversial comments about Meghan Markle, 

resulted in him storming off the set and eventually stepping down from his role at the network. 

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Morgan shared his excitement about the reunion, saying, “BREAKING: It’s been nearly four years (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed ⁦GMB⁩ rather hastily… but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I’m going back.” 

He added that he would join Susanna Reid and Ed Balls at 8:15 am for the show’s live broadcast. Fans quickly reacted, expressing their enthusiasm for his return to the iconic morning program, some referring to it as “TV gold.”

Morgan’s sudden departure in 2021 came on the heels of a highly publicized interview between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Oprah Winfrey. During that interview, Meghan opened up about her mental health struggles and claimed that members of the royal family had not supported her during difficult times. Morgan, who has been an outspoken critic of the couple, particularly Meghan, made headlines for his dismissive response. He publicly stated that he did not believe Meghan’s claims about her mental health, which sparked a huge backlash.

I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her,” Beresford said.

The dispute reached its peak when Morgan, visibly frustrated, stood up and stormed off the set, saying, “OK, I’m done with this, sorry, no, can’t do this.” Beresford later criticized Morgan’s behavior as “pathetic” and “diabolical,” condemning the way he had dominated the conversation without acknowledging the impact of his words. Shortly after, ITV confirmed that Morgan would not be returning to *Good Morning Britain*, despite a brief return to the set to defend his opinions.

Following the incident, ITV issued a statement saying that after discussions with Morgan, the presenter had decided it was time to leave the show. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add,” the network confirmed.
