Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond from This Morning were labeled “attention seekers” after pulling a shocking stunt on a guest: “If I had been that guest, I would have WALKED OUT…”

This Morning Presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond Criticized for Interrupting Guest Chef

ITV’s This Morning is no stranger to on-air mishaps, and its latest cookery segment has sparked frustration among viewers.

Hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond faced criticism for constantly speaking over guest chef Suzanne Mulholland, leaving many struggling to follow her recipe instructions.

Hosts Interrupt Cooking Segment

During the February 19 episode, Mulholland, author of The Batch Lady cookbook,

appeared on the show to demonstrate how to prepare a quick and easy chicken tikka dish in under three minutes.

However, viewers were left annoyed as the hosts repeatedly talked over her, making it difficult to hear her instructions.

As Mulholland attempted to guide the audience through her step-by-step process, both Dermot and Alison continuously interjected with their own comments. Their overlapping conversations created confusion, leading to disappointment among fans eager to learn the recipe.

Despite the interruptions, the segment concluded with the hosts enjoying the dish and thanking Mulholland for sharing her recipe. However, their conduct did not go unnoticed by the audience.

Viewers Express Frustration

Following the segment, disgruntled This Morning fans took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their irritation. Many viewers criticized the presenters for their lack of professionalism, with some branding their behavior as rude.

One frustrated viewer tweeted, “Stop talking over her! #ThisMorning.” Another wrote, “O’Dreary never shuts up during the cooking segments, so annoying.” A third user added, “Wish these two would shut up and stop interrupting, I’ve got a headache.”

Others suggested that the cooking slot would be better without the presenters altogether. One viewer commented, “Please remove the presenters from the cooking slot. Ruined again this morning by the two jabbering on about nothing!!”

Despite the criticism, some fans defended Dermot and Alison, enjoying their lighthearted approach. “I love Alison and Dermot on This Morning,” one viewer wrote. Another added, “This duo never fails to crack me up.”

Mulholland’s Busy Week and Divisive Channel 4 Show

The cookery expert has had a packed schedule, as she also appeared alongside Joe Swash on Channel 4’s Batch From Scratch. The new six-part series, which premiered on February 17, aims to help families plan and prepare meals in advance to save time and money.

However, much like her This Morning appearance, Batch From Scratch received mixed reactions from viewers. Some praised the show for providing useful tips, while others questioned whether the cooking was truly “from scratch.”

Divided Opinions on Batch From Scratch

During the first episode, Mulholland and Swash visited the Powell family in Hull, East Yorkshire, to help them streamline their meal planning. While the show’s concept was appreciated by some, others felt it failed to deliver on its promise.

One viewer expressed their disappointment, writing, “I batch cook, but seriously, pre-made mash, ready-diced onions, and microwave rice? Hardly budget-friendly nor from scratch is it?” Another person branded it the “dumbest-ever” cooking show.

However, many others found the show helpful. “I think we can all do with some help from time to time. I really enjoyed it,” one fan shared. “Gave me some ideas – it doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, any help with preparing weekly meals and saving money surely has to be a win-win. I can’t wait till next week.”

Joe Swash Defends the Show

Amid the divided opinions, Joe Swash remains optimistic about the benefits of batch cooking. Addressing the criticism, he said, “I haven’t seen any cons in batch cooking. I’ve only seen positive things. The amount of money the families are saving, the amount of time people are saving, the amount of nutrition people are eating – especially now that more people are thinking about what they’re putting in their bodies.”

He concluded, “I’ve not seen any negatives, only positives with batch cooking.”

While This Morning viewers continue to debate whether Dermot and Alison’s banter adds to or detracts from the show, it’s clear that their recent cooking segment left many unimpressed. Meanwhile, Suzanne Mulholland’s work with Batch From Scratch has also stirred discussion, with some applauding its practicality and others questioning its authenticity.

Whether on ITV or Channel 4, one thing is certain—Suzanne Mulholland’s culinary advice is making waves, even if not everyone can hear it over the chatter.
