Andrea McLean has faced yet another health setback, leaving her fans concerned after she fainted and collapsed on her bathroom floor. 

The Loose Women star, 55, shared details of the frightening incident, which occurred just months after she battled a severe case of pneumonia. 

Fortunately, despite the shock and a painful fall, Andrea managed to avoid serious injury, though she did sustain a bruised black eye.

A Scary Fall and a Lucky Escape

Taking to Instagram, Andrea humorously referenced her injury with a playful nod to the music group Black Eyed Peas. 

She explained how the incident unfolded, revealing that she had simply gotten out of bed too quickly before properly waking up.

“By the time I walked a few steps to the bathroom, I thought, ‘I don’t feel too good…’ and fainted,” she wrote. “I landed on my face. Literally, face-planted onto the bathroom floor.”

Despite the alarming fall, Andrea was relieved to learn that her cheekbone was not broken, nor had she lost any teeth. After being checked at A&E, she was given the all-clear from serious injuries. However, she admitted that the experience served as an important reminder to slow down and allow herself more time to recover.

“I was really lucky. Lesson learned. Take a moment. I’m not quite ‘better’ yet,” she told her followers.

Ongoing Health Challenges

Andrea’s latest health scare comes just months after she endured a severe bout of pneumonia in December. What initially seemed like flu-like symptoms quickly escalated into a life-threatening illness, with doctors diagnosing her with acute kidney injury, sepsis, and severe pneumonia. The illness left her with 80% reduced lung capacity, making recovery a long and difficult process.

In a candid reflection on her struggles, Andrea admitted that she had underestimated the severity of her illness. “Note to self: being a big brave girl and not saying how much pain you’re in when you’ve lost 80% capacity in one of your lungs to severe pneumonia and infection is not a smart move,” she shared. “Get on the strong stuff ASAP.”

She also described her hospital stay as an overwhelming experience, recalling the bright lights, the constant noise of the ward, and the distressing atmosphere she endured during her treatment.

Keeping Her Sense of Humor

Despite her recent setbacks, Andrea remains determined to push forward with her commitments. Even with her fresh injury, she showed resilience by preparing for a public speaking engagement in Hull, where she would be addressing hundreds of women.

Addressing her audience in advance, she quipped: “To the few hundred women I’m speaking on stage in front of tomorrow in Hull, excuse the shiner.”

She also joked about using a frozen bag of peas to ease the swelling, once again making a playful reference to Black Eyed Peas.
