Amy Dowden, a professional dancer from *Strictly Come Dancing*, has shared her heartfelt journey of recovery and triumph following a challenging year. 

After being forced to step away from the latest series of the BBC dance competition due to an injury, Amy is back, dancing with former partner JB Gill 

and fellow professional Lauren Oakley on the 2024 *Strictly Come Dancing* Live Tour. 

Reflecting on her experience, Amy expressed that she “feels like herself again,” a sentiment that marks a significant turning point in her personal and professional life.

During the most recent season of *Strictly*, Amy was paired with JLS singer JB Gill. 

However, midway through the competition, tragedy struck as Amy suffered a broken bone in her foot, which forced her to leave the show. 

As a result, fellow professional Lauren Oakley stepped in to take Amy’s place, ultimately guiding JB to the competition’s final. While Amy was devastated to leave the show unexpectedly, her injury paved the way for her full recovery, and she is now excited to be back on tour.

By the end of 2024, Amy had shared how difficult the past year had been for her. She described feeling “robbed of the year” and struggling with not feeling like herself. In an interview with *The Mirror*, she explained her recovery: “I feel like Amy again. My energy levels are different, and I’m super excited to be back on tour and to be able to dance with JB again.” Amy added that her journey with JB, which had been cut short, had left her eager to reunite with him and Lauren on stage. Notably, their upcoming performances on tour will make history as the first-ever trio in *Strictly* history.

JB Gill also spoke about the excitement of working with Amy and Lauren again. “Listen, I always like breaking records and setting records,” he said. “It’s amazing. The reality of it is that I get to dance with two incredible dancers. Two incredible women.” He also revealed how the tour performances will unfold, saying, “In act one, I do a dance with Amy, then in act two, I do a dance with Lauren. We do actually dance together through the group dances, but you’ll have to wait and see that.”

Amy’s return to the stage comes after a tumultuous period in her personal life, including health challenges. In 2023, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and has continued to battle Crohn’s disease. Despite these setbacks, Amy received the good news in February 2024 that there was “no evidence of disease” following her latest health check, a moment she described as “words I dreamed of” and her “biggest accomplishment yet.” These victories were particularly meaningful after a difficult period in which she faced significant health concerns.

In a recent social media post, Amy shared her feelings about the end of 2024 and offered support to those going through tough times. “New Year’s Eve can be hard for some. I know too well,” she wrote. “Last year struggling seeing everyone’s memories of the past year when I felt I’d been robbed of the year, was going into uncertainty and didn’t feel the slightest bit like Amy.” She encouraged her followers not to feel alone during difficult times and reminded them of the importance of reaching out for support, adding, “I’ll forever keep saying this too shall pass. Don’t get bitter, get better.”

Amy Dowden’s resilience and strength have inspired many, both within and outside the *Strictly* community. Her recovery, both from her injury and personal health struggles, has shown her unwavering determination to continue dancing and living life to the fullest. 

With the *Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour* now underway, Amy, JB, and Lauren are set to make history and bring their incredible energy to audiences across the UK. The tour opened in Birmingham on January 17, marking the first of 30 shows across the country, a testament to Amy’s remarkable recovery and return to the stage she loves.
