Beloved Today show weatherman Al Roker is bringing his passion for meteorology to a new generation in an exciting and educational way.
The 70-year-old broadcaster, who has been a staple of morning television for decades, is set to launch an animated series titled Weather Hunters.
The show, produced by his own Al Roker Entertainment, will debut in the summer of 2025 and aims to introduce children to the fascinating world of weather and climate.

In his post, he expressed his excitement about the opportunity to engage young audiences with a topic he holds dear: the science of weather.
“The kids in your life will love it—and maybe even learn a thing or two about a topic near and dear to me: WEATHER!” he wrote on Instagram.

The Hunter family also includes Lily’s mother, Dot, voiced by Holly Robinson Peete, as well as her siblings, Corky (Kapri Ladd) and Benny (Lorenzo Ross). The talented ensemble also features Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph as their friendly neighbor, Ms. Joyce, and legendary actor LeVar Burton as Al’s grandfather, Wallace Reed Hunter.

Targeted at children aged 5 to 8, Weather Hunters is designed to blend adventure and comedy while fostering a deeper understanding of meteorology and Earth science. The show will be available in both English and Spanish and will premiere on PBS KIDS on July 7, 2025.
