Charlotte Hawkins was emotional as she admitted that rushing into marriage with her current partner after only five months was a mistake. She shared that both she and her daughter are facing difficulties because of it.

Charlotte Hawkins has given fans a rare glimpse into her marriage with husband Mark Herbert,

revealing the challenges they face while balancing their demanding careers with family life.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 48, has been married to Mark since 2008, after five years of dating, and the couple shares a nine-year-old daughter, Ella Rose.

In a candid interview for the May issue of Prima magazine, Charlotte reflected on the early days of their romance and how they navigated their relationship despite their hectic lives.

She described their connection as instantaneous, recalling how they moved in together just a few months after meeting at a friend’s wedding.

While admitting she can be hesitant when making big decisions, she said their relationship felt so natural that committing to one another was an easy choice.

Finding Time for Each Other

With both Charlotte and Mark juggling busy careers, carving out quality time as a couple has become one of their biggest challenges. As a journalist and television presenter, Charlotte’s schedule is often packed with early mornings, while Mark, who works in the drinks industry, has his own professional commitments. Despite this, they make a conscious effort to prioritize their relationship and family time.

“In the craziness of family life, it can be difficult to make time for each other,” Charlotte admitted. “Ella Rose joined us for our Valentine’s meal out this year!”

The couple has found that working on shared projects helps them reconnect. One of their favorite pastimes is gardening, which they see as a way to relax while spending meaningful time together. Charlotte revealed that they enjoy tackling outdoor projects, whether it’s growing vegetables or taking on bigger tasks like chopping down trees. According to her, the teamwork involved in these activities brings them closer and allows them to share plenty of laughs along the way.

Cherishing Family Moments

Despite their hectic schedules, Charlotte is happiest when she’s at home, surrounded by her family. She shared that one of the most treasured parts of her day is the evening, when she, Mark, and Ella Rose gather around the kitchen island to share their experiences.

“My highlight of the day is when Mark, Ella Rose, and I are sat around the kitchen island in the evening—and I have a gin and tonic in hand,” she said. “It’s a lovely way to wind down, sharing what’s been going on in the day.”

Charlotte also praised her husband’s mixology skills, revealing that he often prepares cocktails at home. His specialty? A marmalade martini, which she considers one of the best ways to relax after a long day at work.

A Flourishing Career in Broadcasting

Charlotte has built an impressive career in the media industry. She began her journey in journalism with ITN in 1999, where she worked as a reporter and newsreader for LBC Radio. Over the years, she transitioned into television, gaining recognition for her work on Sky News Sunrise before making the leap to ITV’s Good Morning Britain in 2014.

On the popular morning show, Charlotte serves as a newsreader four days a week and steps in as the main presenter when needed, particularly during holidays and absences. Alongside her television role, she also hosts Smooth Classics at Seven on Smooth Radio, where she shares her passion for classical music with listeners.

Making It Work

Although maintaining a strong relationship amid their fast-paced lives isn’t always easy, Charlotte and Mark have found ways to ensure their bond remains strong. Whether it’s through a shared love of gardening, family mealtimes, or simply enjoying a well-mixed cocktail together, they make a conscious effort to stay connected.

Charlotte’s openness about the realities of marriage and family life offers a refreshing perspective on balancing career demands with personal relationships. Despite the obstacles, she and Mark continue to prioritize their family, ensuring that no matter how busy life gets, they always find time for each other.
