Thanksgiving is typically a time for family gatherings, and for Good Morning America hosts Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and George Stephanopoulos,

While her co-hosts also took time off for the holiday, Robin made a surprising revelation on GMA, 

sharing that she and her wife, Amber Laign, would be spending Thanksgiving alone this year. 

Instead of their usual large family gathering, the couple decided to embrace a quieter holiday with just each other and their beloved dog, Lil Man.

“Normally, we have a big family gathering, but this year Amber and I are spending Thanksgiving just the two of us,” Robin shared during a conversation about holiday traditions on the show.

Rather than staying at their Connecticut home, the couple opted for a trip to their favorite getaway spot—Key West. “It’s our happy place,” Robin revealed. “I’m looking forward to reflecting on our blessings in a peaceful setting.”

Robin later took to Instagram to share photos of Lil Man’s excitement about the trip, captioning the post, “@lil_man_lukas reactions when we told him we are headed to our happy place for Thanksgiving. #GetYourRescueOn.” It’s clear that their furry companion shares their love for the sun-soaked destination.

ABC celebrated her accomplishment with a heartfelt message on social media, stating, “Congratulations to Robin Roberts on receiving Poynter’s Medal for Lifetime Achievement. We are so proud as she accepted the esteemed award.”

Celebrating Another Milestone as a Married Couple

This year’s holiday season holds additional significance for Robin, as it marks her second Thanksgiving as a married woman. She and Amber tied the knot in September 2023 in a beautiful ceremony at their Connecticut home, surrounded by family, friends, and many of Robin’s GMA colleagues.

The star-studded guest list included co-hosts Michael Strahan, Lara Spencer, Jennifer Ashton, and Ginger Zee. Other notable attendees included ABC News anchor Deborah Roberts and her husband, Today anchor Al Roker.

Robin and Amber’s love story is one that nearly didn’t happen, as the GMA host previously admitted she had attempted to cancel their first blind date multiple times.
