Dianne Buswell has shared her thoughts on her partner, Chris McCausland, being absent from the *Strictly Come Dancing* live tour,
which kicked off this week in Birmingham.
The dancer and comedian, who made history by becoming the first blind contestant to win the Glitterball Trophy, have become one of the show’s most beloved duos.
However, fans were disappointed when it was confirmed
that Chris would not be able to join Dianne on the tour due to his already packed schedule with his stand-up comedy tour, *Yonks!*.
In her latest YouTube vlog, Dianne admitted that returning to the dance floor without Chris has been “really tough.”
She expressed her emotions, saying, “Chris can’t do [the tour]. It’s actually been really tough for me to see everyone else with their partners and to know that Chris can’t do it. It has been really tough.” Despite the challenges, Dianne emphasized her gratitude for still being part of the tour, saying, “I’m really excited to still be a part of it and very, very grateful for that. So, y’know, I’m counting my lucky stars there.”
While Dianne performed in Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, Chris was just 12 miles away in Walsall, performing on his own stand-up tour. This separation, due to the scheduling clash, was a tough but necessary decision for Chris, who had already moved many of his *Yonks!* tour dates to accommodate his *Strictly* commitments earlier in the year. Speaking in December, Chris confirmed to fans that he would not be joining Dianne for the live tour, explaining on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to be on the road in September, and a lot of dates were moved to January and February to accommodate doing #Strictly. It’s unfortunate as it’s been so much fun, but my own dates can’t be moved for a second time.”
Though he couldn’t be on stage with Dianne, Chris seemed to be enjoying his own performances in Walsall, looking sharp in a grey suit and white T-shirt while entertaining his audience. Despite missing out on the *Strictly* tour, he was still clearly thriving on his own stand-up comedy journey.
The news of Chris’s absence comes shortly after he reached new career heights. Following his success on *Strictly*, where he won the hearts of viewers with his humor and resilience, Chris is joining the lineup of *Comedy Central Live* Series 4, which will air in early 2025. In this four-episode series, he will perform alongside other well-known comedians such as Judi Love, Amy Matthews, and Kane Brown. The series will also feature 30 digital episodes released on Comedy Central UK’s social media accounts, allowing fans to enjoy exclusive content.
Dianne’s vlog is not the only recent update about the couple. Chris has also been recognized for his comedic talent, with reports suggesting he has signed a big-money deal with the BBC due to his unique blend of humor that resonates with a wide audience. An insider revealed to *The Sun* that Chris’s humor could “breathe new life into a genre” that has struggled in recent years. His natural chemistry with Dianne has been widely praised, and TV bosses are considering ways to reunite the pair, both for future projects and to recapture the magic that made them such a dynamic duo on *Strictly*.
This includes potential collaborations on general entertainment programming, following his successful hosting stint on *The Chris McCausland Show* on ITV1. His natural charisma and ability to connect with audiences, combined with his impressive journey on *Strictly*, have cemented him as a household name.
Chris’s remarkable journey has not only made him a fan favorite but has also brought attention to important social issues. In December, he delivered the Channel 4 Alternative Christmas Message, where he called for an end to discrimination against disabled individuals and for better support from employers and the government to ensure equal access to job opportunities.
While Dianne may be dancing without Chris on the live tour, it’s clear that both are continuing to thrive in their respective careers. As they both carve out successful paths, their fans are eagerly awaiting future projects and, perhaps, a reunion on stage once again.
